Hi Reader, I’ve been reading Make It Stick, and it’s changing how I think about tests. They’re not just a way to find out what you know. They can help you learn what you don’t. One of the biggest points of the book is that it’s easy to think you understand something, but testing helps you see whether you actually do. The insight I’ve taken from it is that testing can also help form long-term memory—not just reveal what you missed, but help you learn it. That’s why I’m excited that you can now create memorization assessments in Type the Word. Throughout my life, checking Bible memory verses has usually meant reciting them aloud to another person. That can be valuable, but gauging how well someone knows a passage has often felt a little subjective. My hope is that having an objective assessment will give you and your students a clearer picture of what they’ve memorized and where they still need practice—and help them retain more Scripture for longer. My mission for Type the Word isn’t just to help kids become great typists. It’s also to help them memorize books of the Bible. I’m excited to have made this next step in that journey. I think this is a great way that your typing and tech classes can reinforce the mission of your school. If your a typing or tech teacher, this is a great time to reach out to your Bible class instructor and collaborate on the memory verse schedule your students are already on. Let me know how it goes! I’d love to hear how it fits into your Scripture memory practice. In Christ, Josh |
Type the Word Christian schools replace generic typing lessons with Scripture-based practice helping their students become confident typists with deep knowledge of the Bible.
Hey Reader, Today is the first day of a new Passage of the Day season: Rhetorical Questions. The scripture inspiration behind this season For a long time Rhetorical Questions in the Bible have given me goose bumps. When God asks someone in the Bible a question that he already knows the answer to, it’s a great time for us to stop and consider. We’re going to move chronologically through Scripture, typing passages built around the questions God asks—not because He needs the answer, but because...
