Hey Reader, Today is the first day of a new Passage of the Day season: Rhetorical Questions. For a long time Rhetorical Questions in the Bible have given me goose bumps. When God asks someone in the Bible a question that he already knows the answer to, it’s a great time for us to stop and consider. We’re going to move chronologically through Scripture, typing passages built around the questions God asks—not because He needs the answer, but because the person hearing the question needs to stop, examine their actions, and respond honestly. “Where are you?”, “Were you there?”, “Who has bewitched you?” and more. I hope that this new season can help you slow down and examine your heart through God’s Word. You can join the series at typetheword.com/daily. Passage of the Day for schoolsSchools can now opt in to the Passage of the Day for their classrooms, allowing students to type the day’s Scripture right in their classroom setting. If this feature is a good fit for your classroom, head to Classroom settings and toggle the “Passage of the Day” setting.
How can you receive notifications about the Passage of the Day?You can now turn Passage of the Day notifications on or off right above the calendar for upcoming passages. Helpful context as you typeI have a friend named Jerry who runs VerseNotes.org, a collection of short summaries for each chapter in the Bible. You can now reference the Passage of the Day’s summary directly next to each passage's title. I'm hoping this will be helpful for getting more context on the passage. My daily email also include more context and my own thoughts on the passage, so subscribe to that if you want more than just the scripture. Today's passageToday we are starting off with "Where are you?" in Genesis 3. Sin has just entered the world, and God is walking through the garden. He is all knowing and has no need for Adam to reveal himself. I believe in this moment God is really asking, why are you hiding from me, why are you afraid, and what has separated us? When we sin, we are rejecting God's ways and creating a barrier to the relationship with God we were made for. The Good news is that the new Adam, Jesus, came to restore the relationship that Adam destroyed. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of them. Because of what Jesus did we can have renewed relationship with God. Praise be to God! My hope is that these questions lead us to pause, consider the actions being questioned, and see if there is something we should apply in our own lives. Type Genesis 3 today at typetheword.com/daily!
