Free printable Bible memory card generator

Hi Reader,

For a long time, I’ve made Bible memory cards by hand, with the full passage on one side and first-letter prompts on the other. Something like this:

A few months ago, a friend suggested a tool to generate them. Today I'm happy to share that you can now generate cards like this one for free for your classroom.

Print memory cards for your class

The new Bible memory card generator lets you choose any verse in the Bible, select from most major translations, and print a single copy or a batch for your students.

Each 3×5 card has the full passage on one side and first-letter prompts on the other. Students can read the passage, turn the card over, and practice recalling the words.

To get started:

  1. Choose your passage and translation.
  2. Select how many copies you need and download the printable PDF.
  3. Print double-sided and cut out the cards.

The generator includes printing instructions so the two sides line up correctly.

It joins our free Bible memory worksheet generator and a couple other free tools I’ve built over at typetheword.com/resources to help you in your classroom.

The Type the Word mission

My mission at Type the Word is that your students would become great typists and memorize books of the Bible before they graduate high school. My hope for these resources is to support you in that mission.

If you try the cards with your class, I'd love to hear how it goes, and if you have other ideas for helpful things I could build, let me know. I'm hear to serve. 🫡

In Christ,
Josh

Hi Reader, I’ve been reading Make It Stick, and it’s changing how I think about tests. They’re not just a way to find out what you know. They can help you learn what you don’t. One of the biggest points of the book is that it’s easy to think you understand something, but testing helps you see whether you actually do. The insight I’ve taken from it is that testing can also help form long-term memory—not just reveal what you missed, but help you learn it. That’s why I’m excited that you can now...

Hey Reader, Today is the first day of a new Passage of the Day season: Rhetorical Questions. The scripture inspiration behind this season For a long time Rhetorical Questions in the Bible have given me goose bumps. When God asks someone in the Bible a question that he already knows the answer to, it’s a great time for us to stop and consider. We’re going to move chronologically through Scripture, typing passages built around the questions God asks—not because He needs the answer, but because...
